Guys with a penchant for going green should take note of this new computer from HP. With pricing starting at $849, the HP Compaq 8000f Elite Ultra Slim Desktop PC is being touted as the industry’s first Microsoft Windows(R) based desktop PC to be free of brominated flame retardants and polyvinyl chloride from the wall to the mouse. Judging by the clunky ‘puter in the given image we’re not so sure about the slim part unless they’re referring to slimming down hazardous materials. The PC powered by Intel® Core or Core vPro processors and claims to be 30 percent more energy efficient compared to previous models. Liquid Image delighted with a few picture-taking aquatic products at CES and one that dazzles us is the Swim Camera Goggle. Coming with a 62 degree lens, the goggle enables users to capture images while swimming and playing under water up to 15ft below the surface. Mentioned as he worlds first swim goggle with an integrated digital camera, the device also able to records VGA video (640×480) at a rate up to 30 frames per second with audio. Greenpeace released its latest iteration of the electronics guide ranking manufacturers on the sustainability of their products and processes. Turns out there was a reason for HP to get a little huffy about Greenpeace tagging their roof - they had a nearly PVC- and BFR-free computer up their sleeve! Greenpeace is rewarding them with higher points in their new gadget guide, as well as Apple, which just released carbon footprint data on their website.... Read more
