Our hard drives pile up the way our old CD’s used to…oh god..aging our selves…anyway…Western Digital’s got a a new portable hard drive called the My Passport Studio which features a nifty (and tech-lovers delight) “e-label smart display” on the front that actually remains on even when the drive is off and unplugged. Users can easily create a label to personalize their drive or remind themselves of its contents. The display also includes available capacity and whether the drive is locked. Skype and Nokia announced the release of Skype for Symbian, a Skype client for Nokia smartphones based on the Symbian platform. Skype for Symbian will allow Nokia smartphone users worldwide to use Skype on the move, over either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). Guys with a penchant for going green should take note of this new computer from HP. With pricing starting at $849, the HP Compaq 8000f Elite Ultra Slim Desktop PC is being touted as the industry’s first Microsoft Windows(R) based desktop PC to be free of brominated flame retardants and polyvinyl chloride from the wall to the mouse. Judging by the clunky ‘puter in the given image we’re not so sure about the slim part unless they’re referring to slimming down hazardous materials. The PC powered by Intel® Core or Core vPro processors and claims to be 30 percent more energy efficient compared to previous models.
