Casio grabbed most hearts back in 1983 when they released the G-Shock to the world, a rugged, waterproof digital watch that is still relevant a quarter of a century later. Taking this technology one step further, Casio just announced the release of their first shock-resistant, waterproof, freezeproof digital camera in the Elixiim G1.
There’s bee no shortage of of outdoor-ready, all-terrain point and click’s this year, but a cursory judgement based on looks alone definitely puts Elixim G on par with the Terminator rather Wall-E.
The EX-G1 has already been called the world’s slimmest shock-resistant camera, though we’re not sure who certifies these sorts of claims. Coming in at 12.1 megapixels, the camera also features interval shooting and multi-image capture, a great bonus for those engaged in active sport while snapping shots. The main thing though is that this 0.78-inch low profile body withstands shock and water damage, or pretty much anything else you can throw at it. It’s priced competitively at $300 and avail in black and white. Pre-orderly only.
