Sure, VH1′s Tool Academy might be marketed towards the ladies, but what respectable gay guy could turn off a show featuring stupidly hot, scantily clad, twenty-something year old boys drinking beer, competing for $100,000 and the chance to be more “than just a tool”? Exactly. We couldn’t turn it off either. In honor of this new weekly engagement, gaygadget will dedicate one post a week to this hour of television and yes—because we are that gay and that geeky, it will be gadget related.
Spoiler Alert!!
Last night’s episode featured the gang of 9 boys, joined by their girlfriends, working on the concept of communication – that is outside of primal grunting or nearly naked gyration. As the hot sun shone down, the boys sucked up canned beer and directed their bitches girlfriends on how to build a bed. Most of the guys learned to speak like human beings to their girlfriends (that’s what putting $100,000 on the line will do, we suspect) but more than a few failed the test, leading to our first elimination. Sadly, “Greek Tool” Dimitri, was sent packing for telling his cute-as-a-button girlfriend, Jill, to “shut-up”. The catchphrase all must hear before they go home? “Sorry Dimitry, but you’re just a tool.”
Just a tool: DImitri’s failed communication skills might make him as much of a tool as anyone who would use this Cell Mate hands free cell phone holder. Really people—just get a headset.
Just a tool: Or perhaps he might be as douchy as these Stereo Bluetooth Sunglasses. Maybe that’s mean…and we are all about streamlining our gadgets, but sorry, unless you are James Bond and you happen to be snowboarding down the Alps while trying to save the world, then stick to your regular hands-free.
Not a just a tool: Unfortunately for Dimitri, he’ll always be a tool and never know the joys of using this sophisticated, sharp and helpful Bluetooth adapter. The Drone, from CallPod, offers a range 10 times more than most Bluetooth devices, reaching up to 300 feet. Once plugged in, the Drone is recognized by a computer as a speaker and then, its built-in firmware streams the computer’s audio feed to Bluetooth headsets or speakers, making it ideal for computer-based VoIP calling (and it works with Skype right out of the box)! Its non-tool communication skills also include the ability to work with both PCs and Macs. It’s available now for $49.95, a price set higher than most adapters, but at least this is one tool you might put to good use.

Yes! This show is freaking awesome. And this new feature is great…I like reading the “Just a tool” part…I can’t wait for the next episode of Tool Academy and the next recap on gay gadget.

Lol at the pic of the old guy with the big tool on his face. I watched the show too and loved it. Truthfully Dimitri seemed like more just an arrogant d ck, than an actual tool. My guess is that he probably could get any girl he wants for real. So he probably doesn’t feel he has to conform.

You are sooo right!!! Dimitri is a TOOL! I love that it’s called tool academy! hahaha

I would like to elaborate a bit more on what the importance of such a show. First off, the word tool, in the title, actually, has nothing to do with the things you would use to build a house. These are real people, with real problems. These ‘Tools’ will undergo extensive therapy, and challenges, in hopes to become better men. It is rich, and educational.

Rich and educational my ass. The show is about how freaking crazy and immature these tools are. Each tool lives up to his nickname and then some. I mean a guy throw a chair because he couldn’t read directions. Now that’s a tool!

Toolfoo, I strongly disagree. These men provide rich, fulfilling education to the rest of the men in America on how to not be. This burrito is good, but, it is filling. I believe that this program will much benefit the vast majority of men. It will also provide many laughs.

Well Webster this is the thing. I don’t know if these Tools are really teaching men how not to act. Lets look at the first tool to get eliminated Dimitri. He pretty much wouldn’t conform to the school rules. He has the prettiest girlfriend with the exception of Matsu-flexes girlfriend and look what happened at the end. Jill wanted to keep him, and to make matters worse he gave Jill a half ass I love you to keep her around.
