Sometimes Smaller Is Better

Life is full of funny contradictions, isn’t it? My friends think bigger is always better…except when it comes to electronics. Then it has to be small, sleek and über stylish. Which accounts for why the iPhone is so disproportionately popular from Chelsea to WeHo (yes, I was in that long line that first week).

The only problem is battery life, particularly when it comes to the new 3G model–it’s a hog at the all-you-can eat battery buffet. Enter the Smart Backup Battery. Small, lightweight (a teensy 1.75 ounces) and powerful, it’s, well, kinda sexy, with an attractive aluminum casing that is virtually scratch-proof. Compatible with both the first and second gen of the iPhone and most iPods, it’ll double your battery life. You can even recharge the Smart Backup Battery while it’s attached to your iPhone, which recharges at the same time.

Slip it in your pocket when you’re on the go and you won’t even notice it’s there. But it’ll be there when you need it most. Perhaps best of all, it’s a very light-weight $49.95.

There are competitors out there, but none smaller, and none with as much power as this lil baby. You can check the full specs and buy here. (Tip: buy more than one and you get 15% off. Sweet.)

Nice review! I purchased one of these and I kid you not… they are fantastic. I actually used it on my original iPhone and was concerned if it would also work on the new 3G iPhone—but hey—VOILA! It did. This little critter has saved me from ruin on many occasions… late afternoons when the iPhone starts running out of juice (oh god no!) —I pop it on and get a decent charge in about an hour. You can use it with the battery attached though it’s a little cumbersome, I prefer setting it aside and letting the two get it on for awhile (ha)… then I pop it off and the iPhone is good for another night of… well… whatever. I LOVE this thing.
