For those of you working on getting that perfect, healthy August holiday tan worthy of wow-ing your jealous friends and co-workers, we’ve discovered this helpful sunbathing tool that maximizes your exposure time and ensures that you don’t sun-soak your way into future skin drama.
Take your eyes off that cute summer intern and take a look at the Personal UV Monitor from Oregon Scientific. Hardly as cute, but certainly more helpful. In conjunction with the information you tell this gadget about your skin type and your desired level of SPF, it measures current UV levels and then calculates how long you should stay in the sun without doing damage to your valuable epidermis. It then keeps track of how long you’ve been laying out and will reach over and slap your ass if you’ve been out too long. We kid. But it will sound an alarm to let you know when you’ve had enough. It also tells you the current temperature and comes with a manual timer, though sadly, it cannot mix a margarita or apply your tanning lotion for you.
We’re not huge fans of sunburns, skin cancer or high prices and at $24 bucks, we’re finding that we may just need to add this little device to our summer holiday packing list.
